Cityline Financial Complaint - Scammed

Review by lala8587 on 2009-11-09
On April 2, 2007, My husband and I sent Cityline Financial $1,650 for a loand to pay off all of our bills, and just have one monthly payment. We received a phone call stating that the lender for that loan backed out, but if we sent another $1,600 that we cauld secure a loan that was double the amount of the previous loan. We were young desperate for help. We sent the money with the understanding that the first 10 months payments were made. Well after we didn't receive the money we called the number we were given and, OF COURSE, it was disconnected. We had taken out a title loan on our car, and we lost it because we could not afford the monthly payments. We had planned to pay the loan off when we received the money, but that did not happen. I do not understand why some people do not have a good conscience and can take money from people when it is obvious that we can't afford it. That's why we wanted the loan!

Loans don't work that way. They send *you* money, not the other way around. You don't send them money until you have to start paying it back.

Sad.

if you had the $3200 dollars, why not keep it and make payments from that amount?

The less money you have, the more careful you have to be. While this is a terrible loss and one which will take time to overcome, remember the lesson here that before taking any financial action, read everything and ask the advice of people who are knowledgeable in that area.

These people can operate because there's always a "sucker" out there.

While you didn't specify an address, I'm betting these guys are/were in Canada. The US pretty much put advance fee loan scams OutaBiz back in the mid-nineties.
