Model Garage Waterbury, CT Complaint - Piece of Garbage

Review by daniellep on 2009-11-12
WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT -- My family and I had gone to Model Garage as mechanics for about ten years. When I needed to buy another car I had no qualms about buying a car from them. I had problems with the car almost from the start. After about two or three weeks, the service engine soon light came on. I took it back to Model Garage. They said it was a leak and they fixed it. The service engine soon light went on at least a few more times over the course of two months. They said the same thing as before, it was a leak and they fixed it. After a few times of this happening I took it to another mechanic who said the transmission was bad. I took it back to Model Garage and told them what the other mechanic said. They allegedly put another transmission in. Now a few months later the service engine soon light came on again. I took it to another mechanic who said the transmission was going and also the engine was going and the car was not worth fixing. I took it again to Model Garage and told them what the mechanic said. They said there was nothing wrong with the engine, which was making a weird sound and that the service engine soon light was a sensor. Pullleesase.

Must be an older car if it is "not worth fixing".

Could be a sensor. The mass air flow sensor went bad in one of my cars. I couldn't accelerate for jack going up hills or trying to start from a stop. My check engine light was always on. I had it cleaned at a cost of $30, and no problems (with that anyway) after that.
Get a third opinion.

Usually the check engine light is an oxygen sensor or something relating to the exhaust emission system. While it can be other things, clearly it wasn't the tranny.
