Wal-Mart Complaint - Saving Which Families Money? Not the hourly associates
I thought it was bad enough when the largest retailer in the world took their own hourly associates away from their families to work on Thanksgiving day, but they even topped that one this year. The store directly across the street from the Wal Mart Headquarters decided to schedule their hourly employees an extra day during Thanksgiving week and cut their regular work days by and hour or two each day so that they don't have to pay them overtime. It was supposed to be voluntary, but what employee would ever volunteer to work 6 days in a week and get the same amount of hours for working 5 days a week. It seems to me that they can't live by their own moto of saving families money. Paying for an extra day of gas alone, not to mention being away from their families for even more time doesn't seem like a caring thing to do. These are hourly associates, that don't make a very good living to begin with. But I guess someone has to pay for the gated community in which the executives live in. Sam Walton never asked something of his employees that he wasn't willing to do himself. He also lived right smack dab in the center of town, in a humble home, not a trophy house. It's too bad he's no longer around, he could live up to the words, "Saving families Money."
