Baskin Robbins Complaint - No Refund for Bad Ice cream

Complaint
Review by shigatsu on 2009-11-15
Resolution Update on 11/23/2009:
I had submitted a complaint to the corporate website and they got in touch with me. Refunds are allowed if customer is unsatisfied with their purchase. I received a letter of apology today with some coupons. Think I will go get me some ice cream right now! Thank you Baskin Robbins.
BELLEVUE, WASHINGTON -- I ordered a 2 scoop ice cream sundae. Granted I only received 1 1/2 scoops but the ice cream tasted horrible. I asked for a refund and was denied and told their store does not give refunds. There were no signs posted anywhere and the clerk could not provide anything in writing. Upon asking to speak to the manager he called the store owner who said no to a refund.

Been eating at Baskin Robbins for over 20 years. I recall only once being unsatisfied and the clerk gave me a refund. Not this store. Or it appears their policy has changed.

Doesn't their ice cream come in pre made bags or tubs? I don't understand how it could ever taste bad. Was it a flavor you weren't used to? BR is big on sampling flavors, maybe you should have sampled it first.

How much did you eat before asking for a refund?

I only had only spoonful. The flavors I choose are my favorite and normally taste great. That ice cream did not taste fresh, more like sour milk flavored. Yuck.

I think, based on the fact you didn't eat a bunch of it, just enough to determine it was bad, they should have at least offered you another flavor if they weren't willing to refund your money. Ideally though, they should have given you your money back and the employee should have sampled the ice cream to determine firsthand if it tasted funny.

Thanks for clearing that up. A manager that has to call a store owner for something like this is not a manager, they are a babysitter.
Good post. VH

Could the ice cream, have possibly been freezer burned?? Freezer burned ice cream does taste foul.
