Pepsi Cola Complaint - I hate, hate, hate the new bottle caps!

Complaint
Review by Cindy D on 2009-11-16
The ridges on the new bottle caps hurt the hands. I am no longer able to open the 24oz size bottles. I have to ask one of the men in the room to open it for me... and they complain that the cap hurts their hands too, or I have to use a plier. Please go back to the old cap.

I haven't seen the new bottlecaps. I would probably do the same thing I do when I open a bottle of Smirnoff Ice--use the hem of my jeans.

I haven't had had the Pepsi, but I have gotten Sunkist drinks that have been problems opening. It really can hurt your hands trying to open them.

Just get a bottle cap opener.

I keep a bottle opener in my wallet

Wally, the OP is talking about the twist off bottle caps.
Not the type that your bottle of beer would have.

Those dang pickle jars are just about impossible to open. I had such a craving for pickles the other day I was pulling on that lid for hours till It finally opened.

They are tough to open, huh?

Next time wally, call me and I'll open it for you. For a short person I am pretty strong

It's easy to tell the OP to just find a different way to open the bottle, but that doesn't solve the problem. Opening a Pepsi is not the same as opening a jar of pickles, mainly because you open a jar of pickles once every so often, but a bottle of Pepsi every day, maybe several times a day.

Pepsi's new caps aren't consumer friendly, at least for this OP. Maybe the OP could contact the local Pepsi distributor and let them know. Maybe she can contact Pepsi through their web site. Maybe it was just a bad batch?

Oh, and z, I just knew you would NEVER give up going after those pickles. No matter what. (Funny, of all the examples in the whole wide world you could have chosen, you chose pickles.)

I think you misread what I wrote. Offering alternate solutions to opening the Pepsi isn't really a viable response - in my opinion. Must she carry a damp cloth or latex gloves or pliers or whatnot with her just to enjoy a tasty Pepsi? I think she should direct her concern directly to Pepsi.

I'm never in awe of you, pickleboy, but always pretty disappointed.

shouln't that be "my" instead of "your"?

JK! *hugs*

but seirously i haven't noticed the new caps myself.
hope you can find some hand relief.
in the meantime all i can suggest is a small rubber disk (the classic jar opener floppy thing) or cans instead.

Pepsi:For when they don't have Coke!

The Pepsi caps are also smaller and harder to grip. I've been trying for 30 min on my lunch break to get this bottle open... I'm still thirsty! If Pepsi doesn’t fix this I'm switching to Coke but they changed their caps too so I don't know if they will be any easier to open. We'll see. BTW... I never felt the desire to open a pickle jar driving down the street in my truck or at work on my lunch break or in the park while walking my dog. There are no wet towels or latex gloves or anything else to use in those areas... at least not in my world. Wish I had a pair of pliers right now. Maybe I'll take it outside and throw it on the ground a couple times and see what happens. :)

I know this is an old complaint, but it finally affected me this morning. I guzzle Diet Pepsi by the boatload and didn't know what these complaints were about. Found out when I started a new 6-pak. of 24 oz. bottles today. Had to get out the pliers to open a bottle. Taking a good look at those caps, it looks like the spin-weld cycle has to be adjusted by probably less than a millisecond. I'm sure the bottler has made the correction, but who knows how many millions got through before it was discovered? Lack of quality control? Probably. All I know is I have six 6-pks. that I picked up Friday whose caps have the same flaw in sealing. Next time I buy Pepsi I'll be sure to take a good look at the bottle caps to be certain they're not solidly closed. AAARGH!!
