Division of Consumer Services Complaint - misrepresented by my attorney
INVERNESS, FLORIDA -- As a honest consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident.
i hired attorney clifford m.travis. to represent me on a child support modification case. at the time i had hired mr travis, i was a full time employee. before the case was heard i was fired from my job (i had explained to mr travis that this was a big possibility as i had been counseled on my attendance in the past) my case when up to the child support board on 7/11/01 and mr travis represented me. i tried to contact mr travis on several occasions left messages with his secretary louise. this gentleman never called back i made all the attempts. when i finally found out what happend with the case was a week later and i got my info from his secretary. to add insult when i finally got my court papers they belong to another client of theirs. my child support was doubled even thought i'm not working . i have tried and tried to contact this gentleman he promised he would file new paperwork. yet i don't know if he did . i'm worried sick as my first payment is on august first and i don't know what to do as i do not want to be arrested but want to keep up my obligation. i find mr travis to be very incompetent and more than anything as to have misrepresented me.
As a resolution, I would like the following:
i will liked for him to do the job he was hired to do or refund my money so that i can find someone who would.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like more details regarding this incident.
