Polo Ralph Lauren Complaint - Age discrimination at Polo Ralph Lauren - Clothing

Clothing - Complaint
Review by Lingayen on 2009-11-17
ALLEN, TEXAS -- I went through the process of employment at the Allen Texas Ralph Lauren store this week. I completed their pre employment test. 18 of the questions pertained to pot use. I told the young gal in the office that I objected to the type of questions on the test because I am a christian and I do not do drugs, so felt
insulted by the inference that I was guilty of this action! They wasted NO time in rejecting me, the store manager phoned me and gave me bad news within an hour. As I noticed in their store, Nobody over 29 worked there, gee, I wonder why?
By the way, I have white hair!!!

Polo Ralph Lauren practices AGE AND racial discrimination! DON'T SHOP THERE!

I know many Christians who smoke pot

They have to ask those questions, if you offend to them then you have no right working there ANYWAY.

It's called getting along with others, working as a team member and having a pleasant personality. You failed!

I smoked weed as a teenager. So what. I am also a Christian. Christianity has nothing to do with smoking a weed that God himself planted.

If I am interviewing you I am thinking to myself "wow, if she's complaining about the way we do things already, just imagine what a joy she would be once we hire her!"

Especially once she has to do a urinalysis test.

in my opinion (and apparently the opinion of the store) the ones who complain so vehemently about "how dare you test me" are usually the ones who have something to hide.

now me? nothing to hide.
you know you've been in the navy for a long time when you stop caring about having to pi$$ in a cup in front of someone else.

yeah the navy's pi$$-test requires someone physically sees the urine leave your body and enter the cup.

get use to that and any test a retail store throws at you will be luxury in comparison

I had an employee once when I was doing orientation got offended when I went over the drug/alcohol policy "because they were Christian" and "did not do that stuff". Guess what. That person was a closet drinker and I ended up having to fire her for coming in to work drunk of her arse. Talk about being a hypocrite.
So yeah-I would not hire you either. Know why there are young people working at Ralph Lauren? Because it is entry level and most older people have moved past that. Yes-they should not discriminate based on age-but I don't see any evidence they did so. And the racial bit is also a load of crap.
