Transworld Systems Complaint - Transworld - Collections

Collections - Complaint
Review by lalainspace on 2009-11-18
HORSHAM, PENNSYLVANIA -- I just got a letter addressed to my parent's house. I am 43 and have not used their address for over 15 years. It seems that Transworld Systems is now using NCO Financial Systems to collect debts. I can't understand what I owe Transworld Systems.

Also, how can a collection agency use another collection agency to collect a debt? I never asked Transworld to provide any kind of service to me.

Any ideas?

Collection agencies often sub out to other agencies or sell different accounts in collections to another agency.

You have the right to demand proof of the debt. How to do so should be in the letter.

Note: if it's more than 7 years old, it's already off your credit report, so there's really nothing beside an alleged moral obligation that would make you care what the debt it and how much it was.

Building on what goduke said, the burden of proof that you owe the money is on the collection agency. Make sure they give you all the details in WRITING. Don't pay anything unless they prove it is less than 7 years old and a legitimate debt.

Really sounds a little fishy to me.
