Best Buy Informative - forced return - TV Price Match & RUDE service
PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY -- I have to complaint about Best Buy at West Windsor in New Jersey. On August 9, 2004, I was just as happy as usual to shop for TV, & home stereo system for my new home at Bestbuy. Just like many knowledgeable consumer today, I told the Bestbuy salesperson that I found a Sony 60” TV for $3499.99 at Sears with additional 10% off. I ask him can he do the same to me. ( I always prefer Bestbuy even with the same price) The salesperson asked the manager and came back and said he can do the same price. So we shop for Cables, and Stereo system. The purchase was $4992.52. After loading the stuff to my car, I felt uncomfortable with the warranties and some cables. So I went back for return and get another type of cables instead.
Now the problem started, the manager named Jeff Hill stand at the side and point a finger to me and said,” Come Over.” I thought he was asking for his employee (I would never expect how the staff treat a consumer like that). Then I came up to him and wonder what’s going on. He told me that “I don’t feel you will be comfortable with your TV and you should return all items and shop for Sears.” I was shocked he said that. It makes me feel that I am worthless at Bestbuy. It is very humiliating. I told him I am happy with that and all I want is for the exchange for the cable and the refund for the insurance. He insisted I must return all items. We argued for few minutes and a lot of people were watching including the staff and consumers. I feel like I am being discriminated and humiliated. I told him if he can’t make the deal on the TV he should have told me at the first place or told me I must get the insurance and cable with the price match. It is obvious Jeff Hill worried about the TV is selling at a loss and forced me to return all items. I finally decided it is not worth it to buy from a company who treat me like a thieve. I asked him to give me back the receipt so I can drive back to the front door. He pull the receipt back and said “wait til you get your items back to the store.” I can’t stand that anymore. I bought $4992.52 items and forced me to return all items in a public area where everyone was watching, and now holding my receipt afraid that I will not return.
