Macys at Bridgewater Commons 81 Complaint - Bad jeweley is bad business

Review by felice on 2009-11-20
I got my very first pair of diamond earrings at Macys and after 9 months was so disappointed in how they looked and how they wore. I have always loved this store prior to this. I took back with receipt and explained what was problem and only was told they could never help me now?? I wanted to exchange not get money back. Sales people were very rude and not helpful.
Would you please make an exception and let me return for another pair? I was planning to shop at your store for holiday as all my family does also but will not if you cannot help me.
Please answer.

Need more detail here. I do not know of any retailer that will accept a return for money or exchange because you have decided you do not like them. Is the setting or stone defective? We need more information here.

Did you wear them at all for the first 9 months, then after that, they started to not look good? If so, it doesn't seem like it's Macy's issue. Are you looking for an even exchange? I certainly hope not as that wouldn't be fair to Macy's.

What was so disappointing in them after wearing them for 9 months?

Did they not look good - even after being cleaned?
Did you change your mind on the style?
Did they fall apart?

I ask because "disappointed" doesn't mean you have the right to exchange them or get your money back, especially if you've been using them for 9 months.

What you SHOULD do is take them to a jeweler for professional cleaning and have them inspected.

Then, if they need repairs, read your warranty.

My reaction if I were the store is why would you wait almost a year to return them if you were so disappointed? It sounds like you are just trying to turn them over to something else you saw you liked better now.
