Newegg Complaint - Newegg is a Bad Egg when it comes to shipping - Dumbest shipping experience ever

Dumbest shipping experience ever - Complaint
Review by Firemark on 2009-11-22
I ordered some small pc related items online from NewEgg based on their reputation as great service and free shipping.

First after placing the order it took two full workdays before I received an email confirmation of the order.

2 Days later was a shipping notice the items were picked up by DHL from NewEggs' location in North Jersey.

It took DHL one full day to transfer the shipment to their distribution center a few miles away.

2 more days went by when the item arrived in Maryland where it was dropped off at the US Post Office for delivery to my office in PHILADELPHIA, PA!!!!

Eventually the snail mail arrived in Philadelphia.

Best yet, when I filed a complaint on NewEgg's website no less the 5 Eggsperts posted rude, berating comments, how dare I criticize NewEgg?

So if you're one of them, don't bother posting your ridiculous comments about their stated policy. Yeah, I read their fine print. It still doesn't excuse their incredibly dumb shipping process.

I will leave this alone as I can say absolutely nothing nice.

By my count that's 6 days from order being placed. OP, 6 days is FAST in the realm of online shopping. I honestly don't see what the complaint is unless you also have experience with ebay and are the type of buyer to leave a negative if you didn't get your item within 1 week. Also they are not the shipping company, and DHL doesn't even exist anymore in the US I thought... point being once it's out of neweggs hands, is it really their fault?

Yt, you are so good. I was gonna say the same thing, but I would have been mean.

I try ;)

Yes, it's their fault! They chose their shipping service, I didn't. Put the thing in the US Mail to begin with! It would be cheaper, allow an even better price and frankly would arrive faster. DHL is still in business but maybe shouldn't be.

Excuse me for saying so, but I find it arrogant for someone to complain about something they didn't even pay for. YOU didn't pay for shipping, THEY did. Therefore your argument about who they use for shipping is more ridiculous than the argument would be if you had paid.

Regardless, they own the company, they choose the shipper. You got the item in 6 days. I remember when 6 weeks was considered fast.

As for email confirmation, the company is still ran by humans is it not? Do you have a job? Have you ever had to deal with a customer such as yourself? In my business, you would be considered a nightmare and I would refund your money in a second and ban you from my store.

I would venture to suggest that free shipping is never going to be fast, and if you expect it to be so, you're going to be sadly disappointed. Most companies' free shipping is the lowest cost shipping they can provide. If you want it fast, you'll likely need to upgrade the shipping options.

"EggSaver" that you have chosen is the cheapest shipping method ($2.99 shipping)and also the longest delivery time. If you want a fast delivery, you pay more.

Their shipping method certainly sounds more complicated than it probably needs to be, but I wouldn't complain about a 6 day ship time. If it were, say, 21 days I would probably feel a little bit of sympathy for you.

Best Buy does the same thing with CD's. They offer free shipping for them. The CD's go from Best Buy (or whomever they use as a CD vendor), to a company called XMS or something. They process it, have it transported close to the recipient, and then transfer it either to UPS or USPS. The USPS products then go priority mail to the delivery address.

It sounds goofy, but it must be cost efficient either on the delivery cost or the money they save not having to do it themselves. All in all, usually takes a 7 - 10 days to get a CD.

I looked it up DHL only takes US shipments for international destinations, not domestic. I have no idea what the OP is talking about now.
Posted by LadyScot on 2009-11-24:
Yt, I don't know why it doesn't show on their site but DHL delivered a few of my Ebay items that came domestically. I don't know if it was the shipping location or a hand off or what.
Posted by Ytropious on 2009-11-24:
Maybe it depends then. We used to get DHL shipments at my store and now we don't. When I went to the site I can't find any information about domestic shipments regarding residential locations.

Hmm...that is odd.
