Sanyo Manufacturing Corp Complaint - Sanyo Does Not Stand Behind It's Products - Xacti VPC-E2 Camera
Xacti VPC-E2 Camera - Complaint
CHATSWORTH, CALIFORNIA -- We purchased this camera in February of 2009 from Bestbuy.com. I had used this camera a half dozen times over the next few months and by June 2009 it had broken. The playback function of the camera would work but the video functions were not working. We spoke to Best Buy customer service, but since we did not purchase the "extended service plan" we would have to go direct to Sanyo for warranty coverage. We sent the camera to the Sanyo service center and due to Sanyo not having the new part in stock we did not get our camera back until late July of 2009. The cost of the broken part, 50 cents, the cost of labor, $85.00, plus another service fee, bringing the total repair price to $94.55 that sanyo shelled out to fix it. Since that point we used the camera two more times, and yet again the camera broke in November 2009. I spoke with Best Buy again, no help. I then called Sanyo customer service, they tell me to call the service center. I call the service center, they say since Sanyo only warranties repair parts for 90 days they would not cover the repair, but offered to have us send it in and they will "take a look at it." I call Sanyo customer service back and they start to dig into the situation.
A few days later [snip], Customer Relations Manager for Sanyo (818-717-2755), his only offer for repairing this 9 month old camera was to only cover the cost of the broken part (50 cents), while I would be responsible for the labor costs ($94.05). His reasoning is that they only cover parts and labor for 3 months and only cover the part from 3 months to 1 year of the warranty. Long story short, Sanyo does not back their product.
Beware of buying sanyo products. If you have a problem with this product, call [snip] and let him know that!!!!
