Whirlpool - Poor product, dismal service, bad timing!
Whirlpool Hot Water Heater - Complaint
Yes if is going to break it must happen on a holiday...so what better day for the hot water heater to go out than Thanksgiving morning! I had to wait till Friday morning to contact Whirlpool to get warranty claim on my 2 year old water heater (model# bfg1h5040t3nov), called the 800 number on the tank and was connected to customer service person that wanted to go thru and troubleshoot my problem over the phone. Mind you I would not care since everything nowadays is self service but, I figure they say it has a 9 year warranty so I should not have to fix the thing too! After a few sessions with CSR I told him I was calling a plumber since I really need it repaired and not 4-5 days later. The plumber came about 9:30 am and left at 12:30 pm with $400. of mine and the HWH still does not work snce there are no parts in Dallas! I go up to Lowes to meet with the manager and discuss the problem with him and ask if there is something he can do, he says the warranty is all handled by Whirlpool, so much for anyone taking responsibility there either. Whirlpool is off of my list for any future purchases and Lowes is coming in a strong second!
