Lifebuoy Soap Informative - Lifebuoy soap

Review by JAG95665 on 2009-11-28
I recently purchased the soap but I'm pretty sureit's n ot the same as the "original" soap. It just doesn't have the same odor that the original had. The Vermont Country Store sells both the original and the current type. The difference should be noted by the sellers.

I have used both Lifebuoys, one being an old 1940's bar I found at an antique mall (I kept the box and used the soap), as well as the made-in-Cyprus version sold by Vermont Country Store. Both Lifebuoys have that bright red color and that strong carbolic smell. I love it, but at $12 for 3 bars, it's only an occasional treat...otherwise I'll stick to Dial or Irish Spring. One of the Axe body washes (don't remeber the name but it came in a red bottle) has a carbolic scent similar to the old Lifebuoy.

My Dad has been wanting the original Life Buoys soap...where can I get it for him? Even at $12 for 3, I would get it for him.

He is also looking for the Vasline Hair Tonic.

DB, go to the Vermont Country Store website. They have a lot of the no-longer-available stuff from years ago. But their prices are really high. For a one-time purchase of something like this soap I'd consider it, but not for things I might buy like from LTD Commodities.

Thanks Ponie...I remember my Mom used to get the Vermont catalogs and their stuff was pretty expensive, but I loved looking through that book...at that time I wasn't looking for anything specific....I'll check them out..thanks!
