Model Garage - Waterbury, CT Complaint - Tired of the Rip Off

Review by TiredDee on 2009-11-30
WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT -- I took my 98 Nissan Pathfinder to Model garage on 11/20/09 to be checked inorder to pass emissions. They did the testing and came to the conclusion that my evaporator system cannister purge valve (Solenoid valve) needed to be replaced. I was charged $172.00 for the part, $165.04 for the labor and $20.00 for taxes. Driving home from work 4 days later and the service engine soon light came on again. Called the garage they said to bring it back in. Did so a week to the date later to be told that the that the Solenoid needed to be replaced. I told the owner I thought this was the problem he had already fixed. He said well they rust and rot out because the vehicle is old. He said they could fix it and it would cost me $129.00. I told him not to do anything and picked my vehicle up. I can't figure out for the life of me and I am not a mechanic why the problem couldn't be fixed altogether. My brother-in-law indicated that the soleniod and the soleniod valve could and should have been fixed at the same time. Because you can see that the soleniod need to be changed as well. So they want me to pay for labor twice inorder to fix a problem that could have been handle the first time. Woman need to wise up and get educated about whatever is wrong with their vehicle. Because, when you take your car to these garages these men they try to rake you through the coals to make a buck. The first time shame on you, the second time shame on me and you can bet it won't happen a third time.

Check out United Auto on Washington Ave. They do great work. I have brought two cars there in the last 3 years and not only did they remember who I was the second time, they fixed both cars right the first time and even went in below the estimate. Ask for Joe or Charlie.
