Ashley Furniture Complaint - Poor Service - Replacing Defective Parts
PLATTEVILLE, WISCONSIN -- My wife and I just bought a new house and wanted to pick up some new things for the house. We wanted to get some bar stools to match the kitchen table we bought from a local Ashley vendor 2 years ago who has since closed down. We live about 45 miles away from the Platteville Wisconsin Ashley store, so we jumped in the car and drove up there. We found our stools and put in our order. We elected to pick the stools up and build them ourselves to avoid the delivery fee and the extra 2 weeks it would take to have “a truck in the area”. So we drove up to the store a week later and picked up the box and went home. When we got home and attempted to put the chairs together, we noticed that the seats had chips on all the corners of the wood. We also had a problem with a few of the holes that were supposed to be pre-drilled to fit other pieces of the chair for assembly were not bored out. We were very upset because we were planning on having Thanksgiving at our new house and we really wanted it to look nice and we needed the seating at the breakfast bar. So I called to store and told them that we picked up the stools and they were defective. I wanted them to order new chairs, build them, deliver them to me free and pick the defective ones up and take them back. I didn’t think this was too unreasonable. I wasn’t asking for anything free and I didn’t freak out over the phone so I thought they would be more than happy to fix this problem. The store manager told me that he wasn’t going to do that but he would send me the new parts. In the end, all I want are my stools, so I went along with it. This was 3 weeks ago. I tried to call the store to ask where my stuff is but the manager was “out today” and NOBODY else could help me. I am not the most patient person in the world and when I spend money, UP FRONT, I expect timely service or some service for that matter. I will never shop at Ashley again. I do not like to be treated as back burner. There are a lot of furniture retailers out there; I am not stuck with only Ashley furniture. I expected more from Ashley.
