Public Storage Little Canada Minnesota Complaint - How Public Storage Rip You Off

Review by MzKhana on 2009-12-02
I have been renting a unit from Public Storage for 2 years and all have been through is drama. I know sometimes if you make your payment after the 1st of the month they charge a late fee then a lein fee which can add up to a whole monthly just from fee. I notice that my monthly storage has gone up 3 to 4 times since I've rented this unit. I look at the price in the state I'm in now and the rental price for the same storage is 3x lower. I had a incident just recently where my storage suppose to have been going into auction because of a late payment when I spoke with the Manager on Monday and on Tuesday the District Manager call me stating that the storage was going to be auction off if the payment wasn't received that day. I told him that I spoke with the Manager and I will pay it on Wednesday, he continue to tell me how my credit abilities was no good and I said well I paid you guys for 2yrs and 2mths and I'm still payin g you now well over 2500.00 so that should tell you something like I have my things and I want my things. This District Manager was so rude no customer services skills and no communication with his employees. I found that Public Storage is a total rip off and the need to be sued for the charges they charge and overcharge you for renting from them. Also that $1.00 first month bill is a lie!!!! If anyone else had this happen to them please comment maybe we can put an end to them scamming and disrupting people lives.

So where's the scam? They are following the agreement for the rental unit.

Why not just pay them on time? It would save a lot of aggravation.

Must be just where you are because I never had those issues with Public Storage.

"Also that $1.00 first month bill is a lie!!!!"

No, it's not. It's with a specific lease or contract that you get that $1.00 for the first month.
No, I'm not an employee... I had space with them about 3 years ago with no issues. But, this was in Texas.
You're paying $2500? How large of a space are you renting? I think I got the next to the smallest space, and my rent was only $80 bucks. I think, again, it's been awhile.

I know what your talking about. I first called to check on prices and was told $89.00. I was just about to hang up when she blurted out the $1.oo special. I made a reservation for that afternoon being assured that it would only cost $23.00. I told her my boyfriend, Dennis would be there with my furniture and the money around 5pm. My neighbor with the truck and Dennis were told that he couldn't rent it for me and when he tried to rent it himself she didn't know anything about a $1.00 special. Since my neighbor needed his truck for work that evening , having know other place for my livingroom furniture.I had to donate it to Bargain World. If their employees had done their job correctly I would still have my furniture.

ummmm, VOTE and change the laws of your state if you do not like the fees. The admin fee varies state to state as does the Lien fee. The lien fee is not just some extra lining of the PS pocket, it is a legal fee when a Lien is placed on YOUR goods when YOU fail to uphold your payments. Yes, google it and learn about it like I did.

You didn't have to rent with PS, you are a free citizen and can rent where ever you want. Plenty of tiny "mom n' pop" that want your money.

Did you read the payment receipt? Did you ask them to show you where the discount was applied?

I enjoy the part of your lil rant where you are admitting you were given a deadline and you countered with the basic "I will pay you when ever I get around to wanting to as long as it is past your little deadline" tantrum seeing how you are so much more important than he thought he was.

I like how everyone is jumping on the "SUE" wagon. Toss words like lawyer and class action around to make them shake in thier loafers.... didn't work for you huh?

You make it sound like Public Storage needs to set a standard rate for every size space, regardless of where it is. OK, I hope they pick NY, NY prices and all the little guys storage places match them $ to $. That'll show us!!

Get over yourself and pay your bills, deadbeat!!!
