Chase Manhattan Bank Complaint - NSF Fees
I have 2 checking accounts with Chase Bank. I have Wamu and was completely satisfied with them but now I have 2 crappy Chase checking accounts. Last year I deposited cash at 4:45PM on a Friday inside the branch. I assumed they did business like Wamu and would post cash immediately. The next day I was overdrawn. They told me that I had to deposit it by 4pm for it to post that night. I told them it was cash and they told me it didn't make a difference. That day they changed the rules and would allow you to make a deposit by 6pm to post that night. I missed this new rule by 7 hours and they charged me 4 NSF fees. Of course they put the big one through first so they could charge me multiple NSF fees. Today, I realized that I had overdrawn my account by 0.33 cents and they charged me a $32.00 fee. That is a 1000% penalty. I have tried and they told me I need to have the money in my account. They could have transferred the money from my other chase account but didn't because they wouldn't be able to rip me off then. I just read that they plan to change the rule after the 1st of the year to not charge an NSF fee if you overdraw your account by less then $5.00. Why do they have to wait all those months to stop ripping off their customers. I hate this bank and their customer service people. Don't bank here!!
