Gateway Complaint - Over two months to repair is too long!!!!
I shipped my computer to Gateway for repair on July 7, 2004, and have been informed that I should receive it back by around September 18, 2004. That is over two months!!! The problem is supposedly a motherboard replacement, which was supposedly not covered by the extended warranty, and resulted from a supposed power surge.
Needless to say, I am outraged. A company as large as Gateway should stock an adequate number of replacement parts, particularly for a computer which is just over a year old. My entire business, as well as my personal finances, is on the computer, and I am falling further behind every day. My ability to market, communicate with prospective and current clients, print invoices, and to simply conduct business has been destroyed.
I believe that if a repair is going to take more than a week or so, the customer should be provided with the opportunity to borrow a computer from Gateway in order to function.
Although Gateway representatives have all been courteous, I am not happy about this, and do not feel there is any justification for being without a computer for over two months, and I don't feel that I will ever make a Gateway purchase again. If my business doesn't survive due to this horrible problem, I may never make any kind of purchase again! The computer was nice while it lasted, but this kind of customer service is intolerable.
