Citizen Bank Complaint - Citizen Bank Fraudulently Took My Money
WILLIAMSVILLE, NEW YORK -- One of the loan processors took all my information, took a couple days, then told me the "good news". I was qualified for a mortgage and she told me to go find my new home. I was thrilled as she assured me I could once again become a homeowner. She told me she needed a check for $375.00 and it would be cashed once the mortgage commitment was given. I paid $310.00 for a home inspection, once I found my new home,$100.00 down for my attorney, $100.00 for my first down payment and then sat and waited for my mortgage commitment. I also gave my notice where I currently live. The banker, let's call her Gail, suddenly stopped communicating with me. It took a while, but my realtor finally got ahold of her and found out that the mortgage did not go through. The day that they actually DENIED me the mortgage, after being promised I would get it, happened to be the day Gail cashed my check. She has taken full responsibility for miscalculating everything and for me not getting my mortgage, but she will NOT return the money. She said I can try again in 6 months to get a mortgage. WHAT???? What about the house I chose? Will they wait 6 months. According to Gail, "who knows, maybe in 6 months the house will still be on the market and you can try to buy it again". DO NOT GO TO CITIZEN BANK. Also, I HAVE LEARNED THAT YOU NEVER HAVE TO PAY THE BANK ANY MONEY UPFRONT. NEVER EVER, WORK WITH ANYONE AT CITIZENS BANK NAMED GAIL. They need business so bad that they actually steal it from innocent people. It's a shame.
