Claremont N.H. Subaru Complaint - Transmission Poor Service

Review by healy on 2009-12-08
CLAREMONT, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- I brought my car in to have a surging problem checked. I thought it was my transmission because it just did not shift properly. When I brought it in they told me it was the alternator and said that it was not the transmission. I then went to another garage and they said it was not the alternator the reading they were getting it showed no problem.
I then brought it to Keene Subaru who said no problem. Well low and behold this car is having transmission problems and it seems because I am a women they were going to stick it to me. I am sick of these garages taking advantage of women. I am now going to contact Subaru. But anyone interested in purchasing a vehicle from Claremont Subaru should think twice. Poor service and Liars.

It sounds like the dealer in question did not diagnose your problem correctly. I don't think they were trying to "take advantage of you"....lets see, this car needs a transmission that might be $1,000-$3,000. Nah! Lets just get her to buy a $100 (maybe a little more/less) part instead!
I could see your complaint a little more if they tried to sell you a whole new transmission, when it really just needed something replaced. That would be taking advantage.

Cars are so complicated and system so interrelated now, that it is difficult at times to diagnose problems. Additionally, many mechanics are now just parts changers.

I don't think that garages necessary take advantage of women, as much as they take advantage of those who do not know about cars. I have rebuilt engines, brakes, etc., so have a good idea what is wrong with my car when I take it in. If one does not know, then the mechanic can easily put on additional, unneeded parts if dishonest.
