Sony Complaint - The Sony camera that's driving me crazy.

Review by The Grizz on 2009-12-09
Soon after my wife of 41 years died I bought this camera, thinking that I could take pictures of people buying my book, Dark Caribbean, during the signing tour. It worked fine and I took a full stick of people who bought a copy; many, authors I have known for half a century.

Soon after having then developed I was knocked down with heart attack #1.

Between that first one and the last in 2005 I was battling other health problems which made booksignings impossible, so the camera laid-in-state until recently.

At 74 I seem to be doing pretty good, so set up a booksigning tour of Florida. To be certain that the camera was still working. (unnecesssary I thought, because I had used the same Kodak Brownie until purchasing this Sony, and it still works good but I have only one roll of film left and can't locate more)

When I had the prints developed at Wal-Mart in Naples Florida they were filled with an orange colored tint...so I took a few more and had them developed--SAME RESULTS.

Where can I send it to have the problem corrected. I set up my Sony sound system at booksignings to highlight the events in my book. I also have the best interview recorder made by Sony to conduct interviews of celebrities buying a copy of the book, which is a true story: murder, smuggling, piracy, and more in the Caribbean.

I've promoted Sony because of my personal experience with that product, and will continue if they can correct this problem.

Thanks,
Rick Magers

It sounds like the digital sensor may be having problems. The bad news is that it's probably going to cost you a lot more to fix it that the camera is worth, as they are being discontinued usually within a year of being released. The good news is that (1)you might be able to fix the color problem with some software (like photoshop) and (2) you can get an excellent digital point and shoot camera for less than $200 nowadays. Canon just released the new SX120IS which looks to be a pretty good camera (a bit more that $200, but not much). Good luck!

Just checked out your book on Amazon. As a pirate way past 40, it looks like a very interesting read. Think I'll pick it up.

I had thought of purchasing a Canon SX120, but the camera is bulky to carry around. Instead, I had purchase the Canon SD780, which is a good camera.
