Hewlett-Packard Company Complaint - HP Pavilion dv2000 series - laptop from hell
I bought an HP pavilion dv2000 lapyop for my college daughter in 2008. After less that a year it would not boot up and the screen would be black. I looked into HP site and they had announced an extended recall on the model. I called HP and they sent an empty Fedex box and I returned it at no cost to me. About a week later it was returned working as they had replaced the motherboard. That was in August 2009. At the end of November this year the same thing happened again, no boot up and black screen. I called HP again and was told that they would not repair again as they have a 90 day warranty only on repairs and the extended service recall does not apply. I am totally baffled that they are refusing to repair the machine (unless I pay almost $300 for a new motherboard) when the manufacturing defect was not fixed in the first place. I also have a second HP Pavilion laptop which was bought around the same time and exactly the same thing happened. When I called HP they said that that particular serial and product number was not part of the extended recall and as the laptop was over 1 year old it was out of warranty.
I am so frustrated that HP is not standing behind an obvious manufacturing defect in their products and will never ever buy an HP computer again. It is just not ethical that two laptops should fail within a 2 year period and it seems like some legal action should be taken against HP for this kind of behavior.
