Review by car14 on 2009-12-09
My girl friend and I purchased a 2004 gmc 2500 4x4 and the trany puked out at 80k we only put 8k on it since we bought it this summer and the dealer claims it passed their inspection and won't go good for the repairs.

Never again.

without knowing how the previous owner maintained the truck how is the dealer responsible? You had the opportunity to do routine maintenance. Buying any used car is wrought with potential problems.

You bought a used vehicle. Normally limited to no warranty. You always take a risk. I have found that the little $500 jalopies seem to last longer than the thousands do. Less maintenance too.

You have to decide: looks or performance.

My 2007 Ford (bought new) blew the transmission at 34K miles. Ford couldn't explain why.

I would think that a 2500 series 4 x 4 was not used to haul groceries home. This kind of vehicle could easily have been misused, or simply used a lot to do heavy hauling, pulling, etc. If you had a warranty from the dealer, e.g. 90 days, then you would have said so. The term "as is" means exactly that. You take the risk and should have factored that risk into how much you pay for the vehicle.
