General Motors Complaint - GM Warranty is no good!
DETROIT, MICHIGAN -- We purchased a new 2006 Pontiac Torrent in July of 2008 and were told it came with the full GM 36K/36 month warranty. We found out that after 6 months, the warranty expired. This was after spending about 2 months with the GM warranty department. We were told that they just made a NEW policy that stated if a vehicle had been on a lot for several months, the warranty effective date would be set to the manufacture date. This made the warranty last for only 6 months. We asked for a copy of this policy and were told they were not allowed to give us a copy or acknowledge the decision to deny the warranty. The issue we had was a minor problem in the instrument cluster and the GM warranty department tried to get us to take it to the dealer which would cost about $1,000 to repair. We asked if this would be covered and we were told they may cover it after we pay for it. This is a rip off to GM customers. This is part of the vehicle cost. The dealer that is now out of business (wonder why?) should not have told us it
had the full warranty of 36K/36 months. We've had GM vehicles for over 40 years, this is terrible business and we will never purchase another GM product. So much for the government bailout. Anyone that may want to buy a GM product better plan on getting a third party warranty.
