K Mart - US Highway 19 Clearwater Complaint - BAD SERVICE, POOR PRODUCTS

Review by intercon on 2009-12-14
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA -- I have spent hundreds of dollars over the past couple of months at KMart in Clearwater, this is the second Paper Shredder I have purchased from them, I only used the damn thing 3 times and the thing broke, but because I was one week past the 90 day rule on the receipt I was told I needed to go through the Manufacturer - if you don't stand by your products then you should not sell them - the Manager - Michael was worthless - no help at all was sent off with the paper shredder like a dog - the service is terrible they had one girl running the phones, entire front of the store - shows they are a KMART - NEVER BE BACK!

Rules are rules. The can not just bend them for one person or they have to for everyone.

You still have the manufacturers warranty. Please try that.

also ... FYI

a lot of people don't know this but if you're shredding...
keep the number of pages within the machine guidelines

and if you're doing heavy shredding, put a good line of shredder oil (it's sold as such) on one of the pages you're shredding.
repeat this every 15 minutes.
also doesn't hurt to do this once in a while for light shredding too

it'll help keep the shredder clean.

"if you don't stand by your products"---but it isn't their product. That's what manufacturer's warranties are for.
Vegetable oil also works pretty good Pepper. We had a shredder that specifically recommended it.

K-Mart did stand behind the product they sold, for 90 days. That is the amount of time they told you about on the receipt. They kept their end of the deal. Deal with the manufacturer.

So your complaint is more about K-Marts return policy. 90 days is fair, and for all they know you used the shredder non-stop during this time. Do as the manager said and deal with the maker of the shredder, like a good dog.

o cool. i'm not sure what they had at work. they just handed me a bottle of yellowish oil.

cos i was shredding for quite a few hours, maybe 6-8 a day over a period of 2 days. (though we had an industrial sized shredder)

I suspect if the OP has gone through 2 shredders, they aren't using the shredder properly. If you bought a cheap one that can only do like 5 sheets, then you simply can't put 15 in there. I suggest the OP stick to one sheet at a time if they can't control themselves.
