Hotel Carter, 43rd St. NY Complaint - Theft in our Hotel Room

Review by Anonymous on 2004-08-23
250 WEST 43RD STREET, NEW YORK -- Hi All, I am writing in regard to our stay in Hotel Carter on 18th Aug 2004. We checked in the room at 10.30 PM and we had to do some shipments. It was a lot of stuff in our hands so we decided to check in. After taking a rest for 1/2 an hr. we went out to eat. After that we planned to return to our room and we were ready to pack the gifts. But when we came back to our room at around 11.45 PM, we had no bags in our room. We had around 70 perfumes on us, but we thought for a minute probably these people came to clean the room and took everything away. But noooooo, when me and my husband came downstairs they refused to talk to us. The guy who checked us in knew that we had so many perfumes, cos we did lot of shopping. Even when we left he was there...and only he had the key to our room besides us. He was trying to blame us that we didn't have anything when we checked in....But he was not willing to talk to us and told us that he never checked us in....and besides that the Hotel Manager didn't show any courtesy to come out or tried to figure out what was going onnnnnnn....we had to call the police also. But they just filed a complaint...and after that it was over...and the police suggested us to check out and see another Hotel. Well!!!! It was hard to find a hotel at 1.45 AM in the morning...We had no place to go and finally we got a room for $165/- for 7-8 hrs...which was a lot of money....Well we were hanging out on the streets till 3.45 AM. We were just tired and maddddd....and our stuff was around $2500/- worth. I hope this experience will tell all of you to be careful while you check in this Hotel...they don't have any security and besides that they don't want to help their customers. They don't provide good customer service and staff is extremely rude. This hotel is not at all Reliable. Thanks

With all due respects you may probably be mad at the wrong people. Did it ever occur to you that someone else maybe another guest saw you come in with a bunch of bags and also saw you when you left a few moments later empty handed..this is very possible. And honestly I do not know of anyone who would not get on the defensive if being accused of theft on top of having the police called on them.. now I am sorry to hear that someone had stolen from you but if you anticipate carrying so much expensive merchandise with you ..maybe you should consider some kind of insurance to protect your property in case this happens again

What the heck did you expect would happen? That is why you should of read the big letters that says in every hotel DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR ROOM~~
