Geek Squad Complaint - Geek Squad Hassle - Gateway Hard Drive Repair
I just recently purchased my Gateway PC through Best Buy in September. Within a month the laptop stopped working (wouldn't turn on) so I took it to the Geek Squad in Best Buy. They had to send it to the main center and after 2 weeks of waiting they sent the laptop back and informed me that it had a bad hardrive so they replaced it with a new one and told me that I had to get a new Operating System disc to gain access to the Internet. They said that they did not have any at their location. So I called Gateway and after going back and fourth with those non-English speaking folks they finally agreed to send me the OS disc free of charge. Once I received the disc I tried to upload it myself and it did not work. So I took it back to Geek Squad for them to do it for me. I was informed that my laptop would be ready to pick up the next day. Come to find out when I went to pick it up the next day it still wasn't ready. I was informed that they would "get right to it" and it would be ready within another day. When I came back in the following day they informed me that they also could not upload the OS disc that I received from Gateway. Then they went on to say that they had an OS disc of their own that they can upload for me within 5 hours....Wishy Washy. So I left the laptop with them and came back after 5 hours. My PC was finally working when I got it home BUT when I checked the RAM on my laptop it was 2GB...I purchased a 4GB laptop!! Trying to pull the wool over my eyes?!
Now I have to once again pay the Geek Squad a visit. Do they hire just anyone off the street? If so I'll ask them if they can give my 10 year old nephew a job.
