Geeks.com Complaint - Scam Website- Do NOT buy at Geeks.com
OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA -- I recently purchased a 1.5Tb Seagate Free Agent Desktop Hard Drive from this website. It worked ok for 3 days and then made clicking noises. I also noticed that Windows was only reading this drive intermittently- Windows Explorer would see it one minute and not the next.
I spent over a day transferring my data off this heinous piece of crap. I emailed geeks.com twice, but got no answer. I called them yesterday and got a RMA number. Hopefully they will credit my credit card. But will watch for it, since now I don't trust them.
Beware. The attendant at the FedEx store where I dropped this off said that he had seen a lot of returns for geeks.com. Also google "geeks.com complaints" and you will see a ton of the same thing. Defective items being sent out by this company. So I'm not the only one.
I also complained to the FTC & the State of Wisconsin.
How come in this country, this is allowed to happen. If a company is in the business to make money, shouldn't they sell products that work? When you have a return, you lose money by sending out a return label, fixing the defective item, etc. Apparently neither geeks.com or Seagate tested this drive. I have video of the thing clicking away like a clock.
Thanks Geeks.com. You wasted my time, my money and my patience. Now I know why this was only $99. Better to go to Best Buy or Tiger Direct.
