Air Canada Complaint - Bad service, worse policies
I was on booked a flight that was overbooked apparently. How would I know? I only bought and paid in full for a ticket. How could I possibly know that this meant that I may or may not actually get a seat on the plane, depending on what other people with higher "status" happened to want these seats as well.
I was not informed that there was a problem with the flight. I checked in, went through security, waited patiently at the gate, and was then told that all of the flights that day had been overbooked, and it was just too bad for me, but they didn't think that they could get me on another flight that day. They may have been able to get me on a flight 6 hours later, but they couldn't guarantee it.
I called other airlines to try to get tickets on another flight, to no avail. It would have only taken me 3 hours to drive back home. So I attempted to call rental agencies for cars (I, along with several other people who had been bumped), but was unsuccessful. After almost two hours of being completely and blatantly ignored, I was finally able to get a flight, 4 hours after my original paid for and scheduled flight, with A DIFFERENT AIRLINE.
This problem was not due to inclement weather, nor was there a mechanical problem. It was 100% corporate greed and terrible customer service that caused this problem.
Don't get burned. Fly another airline.
