Hotels.com Complaint - They take the money immediately!
I called a reservation number presented to me by the online search engine. It was not made clear to me that I was in touch with a third party agency, nor that when making this reservation that my bank account would be debited immediately (unfortunately I used my debit card). So, my bank account is $361.04 shorter just days before Christmas. And how long will it take to return it? Hotels.com keeps it for up to 72 hours. Then I may have to wait up to 7 days for the bank to replace it. Hotels.com has $361.04 of MY MONEY that was to be spent on Christmas presents for my family (yes, really). The funny thing is, after listening to the customer service supervisor tell me how pre-paying gets me a better rate, I called the hotel DIRECTLY and reserved the same rooms (without paying in advance!) for $15 a night LESS! Hotels.com charged me $79.95 a night, and the hotel only charged me $64.95 a night! Will I get my $361.04 back in time to finish Christmas shopping? Who knows? Will there be fees added? Who knows? My family will likely have $361.04 fewer presents this year, thanks to Hotels.com!
