Home Depot Complaint - Home Depot Clerk lies to get credit for opening a credit card acct
Home depot, westlake shopping center, daly city, California, had a coupon for 10% off and was told that if I signed up for a credit card I would get an additional 10S off. for a total of 20% if I signed up for a Home Depot credit card. I even asked "are you sure? I am in a hurry but 20% would be great!" "oh sure sure"...
when I was approved instantly I was then told, oh sorry only one 10% could be used at a time... so keep my coupon for next time. when I objected the cashier/clerk Emilie said, just don't use the credit card and it will be cancelled. which I knew was not true. I felt duped as I could have gotten 10% off with my exisitng coupon without opening an account or affecting my credit rating negatively... simply, once opened, a card cannot be cancelled without it appearing on the credit report as she represented.
I would have received an additional (appx) $40 off my purchase.. and Home Depot should own up and send a gift card for use in its stores!
And it should instruct its cash register clerks to practice HONESTY
and not look only towards the points they receive for signing up new HOME DEPOT
credit card holders.
