WFN Complaint - World Financial Network National Bank is Selling Your Personal Information
COLUMBUS, OHIO -- Have a Limited Card? A Victoria's Secret Card? A Lane Bryant Card? An Express Card? The list goes on. World Financial Network National Bank handles these companies' credit lines. Recently I received a long letter from World Financial Network National Bank (WFN). Since I couldn't identify the company, I almost threw it out as junk mail or a phishing scam. But then I started reading it, and it said that if recipient didn't respond by mail or phone their personal information would be sold to mail and telemarketers. Also, as of Feb. 2010 you will be charged $1.00/mo for print statements (the alternative: switch to online payment only).
I am really angered by this because: 1) this letter showed up with no way for me to identify what card it referred so as to purposefully look like junk mail so that I would throw it out without reading and responding; 2)It is repugnant to sell people's personal information for marketing purposes, and it is a violiation of the implicit trust between merchant and buyer. I finally figured out that the card that I had with this company was for the The Limited Ltd. But this company also holds accounts for the above listed stores and more. I promptly cancelled my Limited Account as I believe this underhanded way of violating their clients' confidence is disgusting. Anyone else who had this experience should call the company and voice their complaints over the phone and online. Stop this repugnant scam.
