Polaroid/Proview Complaint - Proview for Polaroid

Review by Unhappy in Cumming GA on 2009-12-19
7373 HUNT AVENUE -- I need assistance immediately, please.

A purchase was made for a Polaroid 26" flat screen TV 12/08 from Walmart on Bells Ferry Road, Acworth, Georgia.

Within the past month, the TV abruptly stopped working.

Your website offered several different
repair shops and I chose one in Alpharetta, GA.

That was two weeks ago. He telephoned the in warranty company, Proview at 888-896-9859 and they told him they could not sell parts to him. Sell? This is within the designated warranty time. He still has my television and it is not being repaired unless I call you as he was instructed. The company will not forward one thing to him unless I call and ask. I have called and called and been left on the phone for as long as one hour. By the time I get through the warranty period will have lapsed.

Model and Serial Number disclosed here.

This is the third time I have attempted a contact without a response. I forwarded an email to Lorrie Parent, the VP of Marketing, then made several telephone calls and left messages.

You can only imagine what I am thinking about your company and customer service.

I am forwarding a letter to Consumer Advocate Clarke Howard after I forward this on to you.

This letter, with appropriate strike outs, was forwarded to several
folks at Proview after I found out that Polaroid has filed bankruptcy in June of 2009. Proview is apparently overwhelmed with requests and is having problems dealing with the onslaught.

I am on a campaign to get a replacement or repair. I have telephoned several numbers for Proview and all have a recording.

I was just watching Clarke Howard. He knows things.

Can you get your TV back? I don't understand since its under warranty why you are getting the run around.

I'm sure someone here will have some helpful advice. I got nothing.

Polaroid has always had reliability problems with their TV sets. I also think Polaroid is out of the TV business, since their website no longer lists TV sets, and Walmart and other retailers no longer carry Polaroid TV's. Good luck with trying to get service...you are taking your chances with a Polaroid TV.

This is 1st I have heard Polaroid went BK, and/or has stopped making tvs. Thank goodness. I heard nothing but bad things about them.

I believe a lot of people with Polaroid tvs throw them in the junk heap when they break - I would be surprised if circuit boards/lcd etc are available. Maybe component level parts if this shop does that.

You know, prices on LCD's have come down quite a bit. Might be time to bite_the_bullet and buy a Samsung, etc. Good luck!
