Comcast Corporation Complaint - Double-billing, and uninformed "Customer Service"
SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS -- Comcast invoices for services to be provided during the month FOLLOWING the payment due date. Ergo - we prepay for their "services".
Herein lies the issue:
I moved to a new apartment on Sunday, Nov 8th; cancelled the Comcast service as of Nov 8th. Comcast installed the new service in my new apartment on Mon, Nov 9th.
The bill I paid (on time) in October, covered my service up through Nov 17th... so they owe me for 10 days of service prepaid for my old apartment. Instead of keeping the same account number, they assigned a new one... but they continued billing my old account... AS WELL as my new address/account #.
I've spoken with 11 (ELEVEN) Comcast "Customer Support" staff on the phone, over the past 6 weeks. (with widely-varying results).
A "trouble ticket" was filed, to correct the overbilling & wrongly-directed payment. (it was wrongly denied, but I didn't learn that until yesterday; the day before, I'd spoken with 3 different Comcast "customer service" staff, each one a supervisor of the previous... and nary a one was gifted with comprehension and speech of the English language.)
I finally created a spreadsheet, showing dates of service, dates of invoices, payment due date, and payments made (and dates made).. to PROVE that I'd already prepaid for Comcast services, beyond my moving date.
Took this in to the local Comcast office - - and after standing at the counter for 45 minutes, received a $46 credit to my account - which is less than half the amount due me.
I will be contacting the local office of the Better Business Bureau first thing tomorrow (Monday) morning.... as well as the IL Attorney General's office, to add my complaint to their already-lengthy list of unhappy Comcast customers.
AND, on Tuesday morning, I will be happily greeting the DirectTV installers - to have a satellite-style TV service, partnered with high-speed internet & phone service through "ole reliable", A T & T.
What's even better - is that the DirectTV & AT&T partnership - for the very same "services" supposedly offered by Comcast - - will cost me almost $50 LESS per month, throughout the year 2010.
This - I can do.
It's a service-oriented world right now... and a buyer's market.
Those who provide reliable and honest service, for the right price - are to be lauded, AND favored. Comcast... uh... let's just say they do not make my top 100 list.
