Sears Complaint - Sears Installation - appliances
MADISON, WISCONSIN -- My wife recently purchased a new washer & dryer from Sears on the east side of Madison Wisconsin. Since it's just her and I at home any more, I asked that she pay to have them install them. She did and they came and through them in place, didn't ask if she was satisfied or if that is how they should be positioned and went on to one of their 18 other installations for the day. She then called me at work and asked if we could move them when I got home. Needless to say, that didn't set real well with me. When I got home, it was obvious to me that they didn't care how they looked or if they were lined up or anything. We called and asked that they come back as we were dissatisfied. Calling the local store, I asked for the manager. He didn't return my call, so when I got the opportunity to leave a message on the answering machine, I stated that the message must be incorrect, because if my call was important to them, it seems the manager would have returned my call from that morning. In about an hour I finally got a call back from the appliance manager. He said that he would have someone come out the next day and install a new washer since my wife had trouble with her first load. They brought the new washer out, but after they looked at the one in place, he said it was working fine, so he didn't think they needed to replace it. He also stated that the dryer had to stick out that far from the wall unless we went to another store and purchased a special dryer vent kit. If we did that, they'd be happy to come back and reposition that one. He claimed the washer couldn't be placed any closer to the wall either due to a plastic elbow that kept the drain hose from kinking. Well, a couple of days later, my wife brought home the special venting kit and after a couple of hours between the two of us, we had both of the machines installed much closer to the wall, with the elbow still on the drain hose and the vent kit attached on the dryer. Needless to say, we won't be using Sears installation services anytime soon.
