Microdyne Outsourcing Complaint - Employee Relations
ORONO, MAINE -- This company is so bent on making profits that it doesn't care for its employees. It pays the basic of $7.50 per hour and offers incentives for bonus'. Problem is the initial % is so high that it can be unachievable for a customer service rep to get above the $7.50 per hour. I have worked there a year now and personally never reached the next level which is $8.50. They tell you at interview that you can earn up to $12.50 per hour, but this is not possible. Having myself, a disabled husband and a son as well as paying rent of in excess of $650 per month there is no way that I can get out of the poverty trap.
Employees are allowed two 15 minute breaks if they work 40 hours plus 30 minutes for lunch. However, if you need to take a comfort break between these breaks you have to sign outof the computer's timing facility called ASPECT, so you don't get paid.
Most of the customer care reps start work a good half hour before their shift begins, but are not allowed to log in. They have to make their customer call-backs in their own time. This is not at all fair.
However, Microdyne is making a huge profit out of outsourcing for Dell computers and other companies and they recently announced that they are going to open up too more call centers in the New England area. Would it not be much better if they paid a more liveable hourly rate of say $9.00 per hour to their employess and lowered the threshold for bonus' so these poor men and women who have children to support or university fees to pay, can make a more realistic wage.
Let's put it this way. If you want a satisfied customer then you should have satisfied employees!!
