Epson Complaint - Doesn't stand behind their product - Epson RX680 printer that has an extended warranty

Epson RX680 printer that has an extended warranty - Complaint
Review by not in the usa. on 2009-12-22
I purchased a EPSON RX680 printer form the EPSON ON LINE STORE the first time in 2007,along with an extended warranty, after about 3 months it started leaving splatter marks on my pictures, I contacted them and after hours of trouble shooting they agreed to ship me a new printer. (SO that's 2 printers in a 6 m0nth time frame) About 8 months later, the same thing happened. I again spent several minutes on the phone with them with no good outcome. Once again they sent me another printer, believe it or not this one lasted a whole year. I still have a another year on my extended warranty and low and behold it started the same thing. SO I called and after a grooling hour they sent a replacement printer, IT WAS A REFURBISHED ONE, after complaining and saying I still had a year left of my warranty they say that they are only required to replace it with a like printer, not necc. new. I"m done with them. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!!!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

Did you clean the little ink thingy?

LS, you mean to clean up the drool? Is that where it collects? :)

but seriously run the "clean printhead" function once in a while
it does wonders for your printer

You're so right, Pepper. I'm no computer guru but I occasionally do that function.

How do you get to the "clean printhead" function...?
Posted by LadyScot on 2009-12-22:
Ponie, on every printer I have ever owned, the little tab that the ink either soaks into or onto (in the place where you install the cartridge) has to be cleaned once in a while. I use rubbing alcohol and a couple q-tips. I also run the 'clean' function after each new install and when my ink starts blotting, which does not happen very often.

OF, from Epson's website. Look under maintaining Your printer, Clean Printhead. I can't cut and paste cause it is a pdf. http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/rx680_/rx680_qr.pdf
