US Airways Complaint - Flight Cancelled, Must Wait Over 4 Days
On 20 Dec I attempted to board my flight from Wilmington NC to London, England via Philadelphia, PA. I was first told the flight was on time, then delayed 45 minutes, then cancelled. I went to the service desk and attempted to get a new flight so I could get to London to celebrate Christmas with my family. The nice woman at the US Airways ticket counter informed me the soonest they could get me out was on Dec 24th, arriving in London on Christmas Day. She then told me if I contacted the US Airways 1-800 number they might be able to do more. I returned home.
Once home I attempted to contact US Airways over 5 times. Every time I was told to call back later...the system would not even put me on hold.
There are two issues here:
1. This is one of the few holidays I get to spend with my family. We are all meeting in London and US Airways cannot get me there until 5 days after they cancel my flight from Wilmington to Philadelphia. This reduces my trip by 80%. I will now fly into London on Christmas, spend a few days with the family, then fly right back.
2. Cost. I paid over $1,100.00 for this ticket. When initially buying my ticket I checked multiple travel dates to include the 24th. All dates where about the same price except the 24th. This date was significantly cheaper, but since I am deploying, my family and I justified the extra cost since we do not get to spend the holidays together often. Did US Airways refund the difference in ticket price? No they did not.
