Expedia.com Complaint - Web Site Buggy. Fraudulent charges
I recently booked a flight through Expedia.com. During the process, I checked twice to make sure my flight was at the correct time and date that I wanted. Still, once the flight was booked, they booked it a month later. They, of course, charged my credit card. I called them immediately. I could not reach anyone. I was on hold for more than an hour. I used their contact email on the site, again, explaining the problem. They told me they could not refund my money. Their only remedy they offered was to change the ticket for a fee of $150.00. Since the original ticket costed only $50.00, this was a less than satisfactory solution. They did offer half in a gift certificate that could not be used for flights. Only for services I do not use.
I frequently book flights online, and I can assure you, I will never use Expedia again. I will stick with Orbitz.com or Hotwire.com, or any of the other sites online. Expedia is likely to give you a wrong day of travel. What good is a ticket you can't use because their website is buggy? I'm sure the vast majority of their bookings go fine, but if you are the one sitting on a useless ticket, at Christmas time, no less, I'm sure you will feel the same as I do. The company fraudulently sells tickets to make extra money. I guess if you have plenty of money to waste, this isn't a problem. After all, it's only $50.00. However, if you are strapped for cash, like many are this year, it is prudent to avoid sites that may rip you off.
