Juno Online Services Complaint - You can sign up for Juno online - but, you can't cancel Juno online??!!?? - Online service

Complaint
Review by Patricia3 on 2009-12-24
I began using Juno this month. Dial-up is too slow so I went to Roadrunner.

I went to their online contact re: cancelling.

They will not allow me to cancel online - but, it was okay for me to signup online.

I was told to call 1-888-811-5866 (another country) - I could not understand what the man was saying. I did get a confirmation number that my account was cancelled.

But, then he started talking about getting a free month for $4.95 and then after that - I would be charged the $4.95.

I said all I want is to cancel and not have anymore monies taken from my account.

This was not possible to confirm with this man.

I am now contacting the Attorney General's office.

This OP raises a question that seems to me to reoccur with some frequency. If a company allows you to order a monthly service on line, should that company also allow you to cancel online as well? I have looked a variety of services from credit monitoring to internet access to membership programs and the same pattern emerges. I am not suggesting that such a corporate procedure is deceptive per se, but it can be frustrating, especially when you are required to call into a call center and the wait time becomes too long. For me, I do not sign up for a service without understanding a clear path for its discontinuance.

What are you going to tell the Attorney General? That you couldn't understand the man? You got a confirmation number, I don't think they're going to open a grand jury because you didn't like his accent.

lol, Ken. I can't believe dialup actually still exhists.....I havn't had dialup since 1999. Actually no, my grandmother had AOL dialup service because all she knows how to do is turn on her computer and log onto AOL to check her email.....I would have called back a second time to be sure it was in face canceled, or try to log back onto your account and see if it allows you to log on.

I use NetZero dial up as a back up just in case DSL is down, and it is free.

I used NetZero for a short time when I needed Internet connection while staying at my Parent's house. I constantly got disconnected, and when it came time to cancel it...they didn't know the meaning of the word. It wasn't a very good experience for the Basher.

they do this for security reasons. what if the child was mad at the parents and cancelled their account? although it is annoying, it should be this way.

'I did get a confirmation number that my account was cancelled.' So what's the problem? Do you expect your AG to send you a letter stating that yes, indeed, the account has been canceled? Somehow I get the feeling that the AG has much more important things to tend to.

Net Zero is still free? I thought they charge you now, something like 9.95 a month? I don't even have a landline telephone any more. Havn'y had one for over 5 years. My cell phone is on me at all times so there's no need for one.

Netzero has a free version and paid version. With the free version you're limited to 10 hours per month which doent bother me because I only check my emails and and browse the web. Please note that I use Netzero as a back-up in case my DSL is down.

I believe it was one free month and then $4.95/month after that.

ah. never knew they had a free version. WOuld be a nice backup only thing is I don't even have a landline any more. I should mention this to my grandmom.
