Homebrands Complaint - Beware of Homebrands/IKitchen

I found this item for approx. 30% cheaper than other sites. The online ad for this item stated the delivery was typically within 2-3 days. I placed an order through Paypal on 11-22-09. I received an email from the company stating my item would ship within 5-7 days. After hearing nothing for 30 days I contacted the company and was informed my item was on "backorder" with an unknown delivery date. I have filed a dispute with Paypal for failure to deliver and I'm waiting for resolution.
Be aware - This company is a scam. Don't waste your time or money.

From the website on shipping:

Most customers are notified via email of when an item is backordered. Please allow 2-3 business days for notification.

Due to the volatility of and constant changes in the marketplace, there is a small chance that the item(s) you ordered will be out of stock
or discontinued when your order is processed. If this should be the case, you will be notified shortly that we will not be able to ship the
item(s). To make up for any inconvenience this may cause you, we will offer you a discount on your next order.

HomeBrands makes every effort to provide current stock status. In spite of these attempts, items that are listed on the site as available
may occasionally fall on backorder.

If, for any reason, your item has not shipped within the specified shipping time frame, we will notify you of this delay via email. At that
time you will be given the option to either cancel your order, or allow it to remain on backorder.

If your order cannot be shipped within 30 days it will be canceled. In an effort to help our customers, you may be given the opportunity
to extend the back order past 30 days for highly constrained items, and orders will remain open and be shipped as soon as the product
becomes available. No backordered item will be kept open beyond 30 days without the consent of the customer.


So.........you were probably notified of the backorder at the email you provided when you ordered, or the email listed with Paypal since that was your payment method. Also, you were probably emailed with an option to continue the wait, or get a refund. You went straight to Paypal for a refund and then to here for your complaint.

The details also clearly state that all items come directly from the manufacturer, which makes this company a dropshipper. They work like any other retailer. If an item is backordered, you have the option to wait or get a refund.

No scam. Just a manufacturer issue. You would have gained a refund either way.
