DirecTV Inc Informative - DirecTV: A Bunch of Thieves
I was a customer of DirectTV for 5 months I had the bundled service with AT&T and DirectTV. I was supposed to pay no more than$100 per month for all 3TV, internet and phone service. My first bill from Direct was over $80 and $75 from AT$T. I called and was told that was just the first month and would go down. I called every month but my bill averaged $150 to$160 per month for all three services I was just given the run-around with their customer service. July 2009 Direct informed me they had not received my June payment and threatened to turn off my service if I did not pay immediately and started calling me demanding the money. I had paid my bill ontime every month. I had paid them with money orders I got and sent copies of all the money orders I had sent to them including the June payment showing Direct had deposited it to their account. Direct said it did not get the copies, I mailed them again, they supposedly still did not get the copies. I faxed the copies, they said they did not get the faxes. I faxed them twice. I finally got fed up and cancelled the service. I knew what Direct was going to do so I called my credit card co. and asked them not to accept charges from Direct TV My credit card assured me they would not and would put a note on my account. My credit card did accept the charges of $460.00 from Direct TV but put the amount into dispute at my request. In the meantime, Direct sent me the boxes to return their equipment, I returned the equipment. Direct denied getting the equipment and was going to charge my credit card another $460.00. for the equipment. I called Fed EX and gave them the tracking number they verified Direct had received the equipment and had signed for it. Fed Ex called Direct TV for me and got this straightened out. I filed a complaint with the BBB online and explained my situation with Direct TV and my credit card for accepting charges from DirectTV after they had promised not to. The BBB sent me an Email and got in touch with Direct TV and my credit card co. My credit card responded to the BBB with a letter and BBB semt me a copy My credit card stated the amount was in dispute and Direct TV had until Dec 27th 2009 to reapply the $460 to my account and I would be responsible for the amount. Dec 23,I canceled my credit card. This will no doubt go against my credit but I refuse to pay something I do not owe. bottom line, if Direct TV has your bank or credit card number on file, do not trust the bank or credit card not to accept the charges from Direct. Cancel the account or Direct TV WILL help themselves to whatever amount they can get. DirectTV is the Worst company I have ever dealt with!
