Overstock.com Complaint - "As-is" jewelry 3 times in a row!!
If you search the Internet on customer reviews about Overstock, you can see a variety of comments about the products and customer service - ranging from stellar to horrible experiences. A previous experience with solving a damaged furniture issue with Overstock was (eventually) satisfactorily resolved, but it was bizarre the way nobody in the company can "talk to the warehouse" or each other. Nevertheless, at times they have interesting items so 3 times in 2009 I ordered jewelry items: a silver pin, which arrived with a slight defect, a watch, that arrived with brown corrosion on the bezel as though it had been kept in a humid area, and lastly and most recently, a gold-filled necklace with a broken extender and a clasp that looked NOTHING like pictured, it was a lobster claw, supposed to be a toggle clasp. Suspicious of the return policy (a "restocking" fee?) and reports of uneven service, I will not return these and in any case am careful not to spend more than I can stand losing with Overstock. Be wary of the product reviews as I read online a comment by the founder that "Overstock found if you print only positive reviews, nobody believes it, so they print a few negatives" e. g. the reviews are screened and for sure they have never printed even a fair review of mine. It's too bad from time to time I have gotten nice stuff in perfect condition with fast shipping, but 3 times in a row is enough for me for a while.
