AirTran Airways Complaint - Terrible Customer Service!
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- In November, my family took a trip from Dallas, TX to St. Thomas, USVI. We flew Airtran from Dallas to San Juan (Airtran doesn't fly to St. Thomas.) When I booked the flight, there was a scheduled change of planes in Atlanta. The airline only allotted 35 minutes for us to land and change terminals. I was concerned and called the airline. The operator assured me this was done all the time, and it would be fine. We were late landing in Atlanta, and by the time we ran to the gate, the plane's doors were closed. We were forced to take a later flight that caused us to miss our transfer from San Juan to St. Thomas. We were scheduled on the last flight of the day with that airline, so we had to book a last minute flight on Cape Air at a cost of $469.37. Airtran refused to reimburse us or give us flight credits for that expense. In Atlanta, the ground personnel seemed completely unconcerned. I think this situation occurs frequently. When I booked this trip, I felt good about using Airtran, because they have a new fleet, and I thought the customer service would be better than that of the major carriers. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
