Samsung Televisions Complaint - Samsung LCD 40" TV a Fire Hazard

Review by Robin 2526 on 2009-12-29
I purchased a Samsung 40" LCD television on October 7, 2008 from Sears. Within a year there was a smoking smell and crackling noise at the same time the video went out on the television. Unfortunately I did not take immediate action, but in November, I called Sears Repair to no avail. I then called another TV repairman who told me that the "panel" was burnt out and to replace the part would be almost as much as I paid for the television a year ago. Because it is out of warranty, nobody can do anything. Although, both the television repair person AND Samung told me that they never heard of anything like this happening. I have also thought Samsung was a good product and felt they would at least give me a discount on another television or pay for part of the repair. It could have caught fire!

You had the opportunity to have it repaired under warranty and failed to do so.
