Contact the original lender and see if they can tell you who they sold your account to.

I would go to clarkhoward.com and do a search for "student loans". He has spoken quite a bit about them on his radio show. In addition, he has free consumer counselors you can call off the air from 10A to 7P EST for advice. I am leery of any of these "debt consolidation" companies that advertise for your business.

I just wonder what this person spent those student loans on. It obviously wasn't education. He/she states the ignored the collection calls, and now wants to hook up with the wrong people? Wants to start fresh with no consequences. What color is the sky on their planet?

You need to research and talk with companies that strictly handle student loans only. Find out what they can do for you and be sure it's of benefit. Most Consolidation companies that work credit card debt cannot do these types of loans, even though some may claim they can.
