Sears Complaint - No Customer Service
POINTE CLAIRE, QUEBEC -- December 29th, 2009 I went to Sears (Fairview Location) I left close to tears and with 2 store bouncers following me. My 4 sons were with me - I am a career person (sales) 48 years old and have never been treated that way in my life.
What did I do wrong?
I went to get a store credit for my boys Christmas clothing that their 70 year old grandmother bought from the catalog. The clothes did not fit. What problem? I did not have a bill and did not want to upset their grandmother so I knew I could expect to take a loss on the store credit-what could possibly go wrong?
The day before (December 28th my 21 year old son did the same thing at Sears - he received a store gift card (took a bit of a loss because he did not have a bill either (same grandma)
So I anticipated that in 24 hours the service would be the same for me.
I was wrong.
I was told no. So I asked for the manager. She sneered at me and explained how every aspect in her store worked. I said that I didn't want to work there and she responded that she did not want me to work there either and kept sneering. I asked for her boss. So far about an hour and a half went by - we were still in Sears. She said her boss would not help me either but I kept insisting searching for the logic or pleasure in giving a customer this much hassle. I said that I was willing to take reduced prices on these 3 items but would just like my son to be able to buy something that would fit him.
Then to my disbelief I saw 2 girls (store bouncers) beside me. They had come to CALM me down or take me out of the store. I guess customers are now criminals. It was surreal. Finally the other manager came upstairs to see me - also uncooperative and arrogant and brought me downstairs to the catalog department to be rejected by the catalog department.
Sorry this is a long story but trust me I was in the store for over 2 hours trying to get someone to care. No one did. I have to be fair and say that at least the lady in the catalog department did not sneer or laugh at me but still would not help me. I spoke English and french to both - but the uncooperative manager must have forgotten that I spoke french because she told the other woman in the catalog department that she did not believe that my son had returned his packages the day before and that if he did he must have been dishonest and took them out of the bag and pretended he had just bought them ????
Can you believe it. In front of a mother. At the end of the day I accomplished nothing - felt like nothing and was told that my 70 year old mother would have to fax in her bill as they could not verify anything without the bill. When I said that they could access her account with a phone call to her they refused.
There was nobody to turn to that cared. So tonight my 70 year old mother is upset that one of her grandsons did not get a present from her as I needed to trouble her for the bill. She shops only by catalog as she is too weak to go to the stores. She is still looking for one more receipt and as all seniors get she is very stressed out over this.
What to hell happened? At Walmart without the bill after Christmas (I was there too) they give you a giftcard and you take a loss but not disrespected.
Is it really getting that bad out there?
