Air Jamica Complaint - Air Jamica overbooked

Returning on 01/02/10 to Chciago. Plane was grossly overbooked and were told no seats available even thought we were reserved and paid. We were told we could not get out for two days and that even at that we were booked on connecting flights and would not arrive at Chicago O'hare until mid-night. We were told that they would put us in a Windham hotel for two days. They then told us the hotel was full and were put up in a dump that is filthy and whose restaurants have inedible fare. We fly back and forth to Jamica twice a year but I will never fly air jamica again.

All airlines overbrook their flights, so even if you choose someone else it can still happen. Make sure you always pre-reserve a seat assignment. This will keep you from being the one that gets bumped from the flight. Most people book flights but never pre-reserve seats.

Just out of curiosity, were you on time to the airport and/or gate? If you arrive too late, I think they give away seats to people on standby. I could be wrong, though, as I've never flown Air Jamaica and haven't flown anywhere in years.
