Duane Reade Complaint - Pharmacy - Pharmacist

Review by jebs on 2010-01-03
NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- On 1/3/10 at 4:30 PM. I went to pick up medicine for my daughter at Duane Reade on 79 street and York Ave. Man. The pharmacist said no call came in by my daughter's doctor. I call ed the doctor who said he left 3 messages and kept getting the answering machine. The man behind the counter said the phone " may be out of order' . He then picked up the phone to call the doctor. Upon leaving, I stopped to ask the manager the name of the Pharmacist and was told that he didn, t know.

The pharmacist used the " possible out of order " phone to call the doctor. He did not check the answering machine. The problem was resolved as he made up the prescription.

I prefer Walgreens, CVS, or Rite Aid to Duane but they do have a large selection of items.

This has happened to me at least half a dozen times. I come to pick up a script that my doctor called in, and they tell me, "Nobody called in a prescription for you, you must be mistaken."

I call my doctor, and she tells me no, she called the prescription in hours ago. I call them back and inform them of this, and they say, "Oh...uh, sorry."

This has happened so many times, that the last few times, I actually told them, "Look, can you please check again, and check carefully. You've 'misplaced' prescriptions that my doctor has called in MANY times before." They go check again and say, "No, nobody called anything in." I go call my doctor and of course DR is wrong.

They are completely incompetent when it comes to processing and keeping track of prescriptions that are called in.
